We wanted a family picture by the water, but the boys were not in the mood...
Our second attempt failed too...
They'd much rather throw sea shells into the water...
Almost time for the ferry...
We brought some bread to feed the seagulls from the ferry...
The ferry dropped us off in Fort Fisher not far from the aquarium. Bryce thought it was fun to get eaten by an alligator...
But, Ben was not amused! Poor kid really looked like he was being eaten!
Twin alligators staring at twin boys!
They love sting rays...
That evening, we went back to the beach to enjoy another sunset. The boys ran happily hand in hand...
Our evening snacks attracted the always-hungry seagulls...
Another gorgeous sunset...
Early the next morning, the boys headed to the beach again for more fun in the sand. The day was so beautiful that we ended up staying out there for 5 hours!
We couldn't keep our two little beach bums from stripping out of their clothes and getting drenched in the freezing water again!
I don't think there is a happier place on earth for these two!
Our little soccer star enjoyed kicking the ball down the beach...
Waiting for dry clothes, again!
Mommy loves sand dollars...
So wrong, but we couldn't keep our naked boys out of the sand!
Chasing dad...
I think they'd sleep here if we let them!
They ended up getting wet and rolling around half naked in the sand while waiting for more dry clothes, AGAIN!
Oma recently painted palm trees on the walls of the "grandkids" room at the beach house and wrote each grandchild's name on a coconut. Here are the boys pointing to their dedicated coconut...
On our last day at the beach, we took a walk to the local ice cream shop to see if they were open. Unfortunately, they weren't, so we decided to walk to the beach one last time.
I can't remember why Bryce was grumpy in this pic...
The boys refused to keep their shoes on...
The day we left Sunset Beach, the weather was overcast... reflecting our sadness to leave! We were actually supposed to leave the day before, but we decided to extend our trip by one day because no one wanted to leave, especially the boys. They said they wanted to live at oma's beach house forever. Oma and opa are fine with that!
On our walk back to the house, we saw more deer in the sand dunes. Can you spot three in this pic?
After sad good-byes, we hopped in the car to drive to Charleston, where we stayed for one night, before catching an early flight back home the next day.
We got to Charleston early enough to walk around the city and grab dinner...
They're so silly!
Like many siblings do, our boys are constantly fighting! So, we live for these moments when we catch them doing something as heart-wrenchingly sweet as falling asleep while holding hands from two separate rows on our flight home! :)
When we got home, we took this picture in our new shirts to send to oma and opa!
We can't wait to go back next fall!
