A Fun Sunday Afternoon

Last weekend, Evan and I had a fun Sunday afternoon with the boys.  The day started with Benjamin getting some alone time with mom and dad when he woke up about half an hour before his brother.  Looks like he and dad were still a little sleepy...

There's that heart-melting smile!

Making silly faces while trying to crawl off the bed...

After lunch, we met their buddy Sam and Sam's parents, Melissa and Justin, for some ice cream... notice the parents are the only ones looking at the camera!

Beautiful family!

As you can see, Benjamin has discovered his nostrils... now we can't keep his fingers out of them!

There's no money in momma's purse, Ben...

After ice cream, we went shopping for some clothes for dad and ended up finding the coolest toys for the boys... the talking Super Why dolls (the super hero from their favorite cartoon)!  There was only one left at that store; so, of course, we had to go to another location to find a second doll! :)

That afternoon, in the middle of all our errands, Evan turned the boys' carseats around... so now, our big boys are facing forward!  We couldn't tell if they were happy though because by then, they were so sleepy and worn out from the shopping and the 100+ degree weather. :(

As soon as we got home, the boys watched Super Why with their Super Why dolls!

They were still hot from our outing, so here they are enjoying being shirtless and fighting over the same doll even though there's another one laying right next to them... so much for running around town to find that second doll!

We're Awake... Come Get Us!

The boys are now down to two naps a day, one around 10am and the second around 3 or 3:30pm.  They each last about 1 to 2 hours... so much better than the three 45-minute/1-hour naps they used to take!  You may have noticed that the cribs now have a lot of "extra protection" added... a couple of months ago, we had to cover the rails to protect the wood from the boys' constant biting, and before that, we changed out the monkey bumpers to the mesh-like Breathable Bumpers.  They're so unattractive, but I guess they're supposed to be safer.

When they wake up from a nap, this is the adorable sight that usually greets me as I enter the room :)

Here's Benjamin checking out the short distance between his crib and Bryce's.  I think one of these days, I'll come in to find both of them playing in one crib...

They've mastered the "look anywhere but at the camera" pose...

Benjamin is getting madder and madder at his momma for not picking him up and taking him out of the crib...

Once again, our sweet little hugger...

Bryce, Our Sweet Little Hugger

As I had mentioned in the previous post, our sweet Bryce has become quite the Luv Bug.  He loves to hug his toy animals and his brother... and recently, we discovered that he loves to hug his friend, Sam, too!  Just a little too much.

It all started with a sweet rhinoceros kiss...

Then it quickly turned into full blown bear hugs...

Lots and lots of crushing bear hugs...

Poor Sam...

The moms were too busy taking pictures to rescue Sam...

"Momma, help!"

Sam runs away while Bryce gets trampled by his brother who was determined to get past him without having to crawl around the other side of the couch... oh my.

Sam quickly hides behind Ben for safety...

No such luck!  Bryce strikes again...

"Seriously?"

13 Months... But No Monkey Photos :(

The boys turned 13 months four days ago, so I feel guilty for writing this post so late!  I'm also a little sad that this is the boys' first monthly birthday without our monthly monkey photos.  :(  But, we still have a few exciting milestones to share...

-This past month, the boys started standing without holding on to anything and now they're able to do it for quite awhile, especially Bryce.

-They've also both started walking while holding on to furniture.  And, a couple of times, they've walked about 2 steps without holding on to anything!  Bryce seems to be more determined to walk without the help of furniture than Ben.

-Along with walking, they also started climbing!  All the ottomans in the living room had to be taken out because they kept climbing on AND falling off them.

-One of the cutest things they started doing this past month is playing cat and mouse around our recliner.  They would go around and around, hiding, chasing, and laughing hysterically.

-The sweetest thing they started doing is showing concern and affection for one another.  Just as an example, Ben tried to hold Bryce's hand and rub his head when he saw him crying.  And, Bryce is constantly trying to hug Ben, even though Ben always shrugs him off.

-Bryce is really trying to talk... I would say a little more than Ben.  About a week ago, he started chanting "dabba" over and over again.  We think this came from watching too much Yo Gabba Gabba.  I can't remember which one, but one of them has also been saying "yummy" a lot.  And, I've heard Bryce say "apple" a couple of times.

-And the BIGGEST and most SHOCKING milestone that was achieved in the Berg household this past month (this might call for a drumroll)... mom and dad moved back to their bedroom downstairs (after almost 11 months of sleeping in the guestroom next to the boys' room)!  Yes, it's a miracle, but we finally did it.  This would've happened a lot sooner if it was up to Evan, but I refused to walk up and down the stairs everytime one of the boys cried in the middle of the night.  But, now that they're waking up much less frequently, I finally agreed it was time!

And, now for the pictures... these were actually taken four days before the boys turned 13 months, but I guess that's close enough!  They looked like little school boys that day...

Is that a smirk or smile on Ben's face?

Bryce LOVES his little couch...

He always crawls onto that thing and lays down...

They're so silly...

One of my favorite Bryce expressions, the squinched up nose...

I'm not really sure what Bryce was trying to do or tell us...

Once again, Bryce crawled over to his couch and layed down.  But, then Ben came over and started bothering him... so a fight was about to begin.

Bryce caught in the act of trying to get rid of his brother by biting him...

Then he got mad and looked at us for help when Ben was quick to stop the bite from happening...

We probably won't win the best parenting award for this picture...

After playtime came bathtime.  I've recently discovered that they both much prefer to lay back in the tub rather than sit up.  Such boys of luxury!  Here's Bryce relaxing after a long hard day...

Then came Ben's turn...

He actually didn't remain as calm... here he is kicking his legs and splashing water all over the bathroom walls and floor until he was left with only about an inch or two of water!

He never fails to entertain us...

The End to another fun day with our two silly monkeys...

The Many Faces of Benjamin

I've been so busy working on hedyberg.com the last few weeks that I've neglected my maternal duty to photograph our boys' every move and blog about it!  :)  So, now I have a lot of blogging to catch up on!  I downloaded a bunch of pictures from my cameras today and was pleasantly surprised by these that I had already forgotten about.  They are mostly of Benjamin playing by the window about two weeks ago because I remember Bryce wasn't in the mood for pictures that day!

This is Benjamin's cranky face...

This is his melt-your-heart face...

And this is his I'm-about-to-be-mischievous face... very similar to his melt-your-heart-face, but a mom can always tell! :)

This is the I've-just-about-had-enough-of-the-camera face...

This is the are-you-still-taking-pictures-of-me? face... (I confess, I really thought this was Bryce until I saw the four bottom teeth, which Bryce only has three.)

I did get one picture of Bryce!  He's become our sweet little hugger and loves to hug everything...
