More and More Teeth

The teeth are coming in fast!  I did a blog post when Ben got his first tooth right after he turned 7 months, so now it's Bryce's turn.  Bryce decided he couldn't be outdone, so about three weeks after Ben got his first tooth, Bryce popped out two at the same time!

But wait... the competition continues!  A couple of weeks after Bryce showed off his two, Ben grew another tooth, then another, and yet another.  Yes, at 8 months old, he now has four teeth... three on the bottom and one on top.  Oddly, the second tooth did not come in right next to the first one.  It skipped a space!  So he looked like an old man losing teeth rather than a baby growing new teeth!  Luckily the third tooth came in shortly after and is now filling the gap between the first two.  The fourth tooth is on top towards the right side of his mouth.  I thought babies' front center teeth usually come in first.  I guess this just confirms that our boys are extra special.  :)

First Family Vacation

Last weekend the Bergs spent four fabulous nights in Charleston, SC for our very first family vacation!  The thing I dreaded the most was packing for two 8-month old babies.  You don't realize how much stuff they use until you have to pack it all!  Luckily, oma and opa came along and helped us tremendously.  Overall, everything went pretty smoothly, and we had a wonderful time, took lots of pictures and created everlasting memories to share with the boys one day.

Here we are checking in for our flight at the crack of dawn (the joys of flying standby).  I feel guilty that the boys' first flight wasn't on Southwest!

Our lucky boys both got window seats.  Luckily there was enough room on the way there for the boys to sit in their car seats rather than on our laps, which, unfortunately, they had to do on our way back.

With all the toys we brought to keep them entertained, their favorite ended up being the plastic cups from our drinks.

When we finally landed in Charleston, we fed the boys at the airport while dad collected our gazillion checked bags, cooler stocked with 5 days worth of homemade baby food, and our double stroller.  Then, we jumped into our rental minivan (which seems to be the only vehicle that can fit the Bergs these days), and headed straight to the place we'd call home for the next few days.  Here we are taking a scenic walk of the beautiful resort shortly after checking in.

We stayed at the Wild Dunes Resort on the Isle of Palms.  It was absolutely gorgeous!

Quick family picture by the pool before heading to the beach...

The boys' first steps in the ocean... it was pretty cold so they didn't enjoy it very much.

I love this picture of Ben with his opa...

Pappa Bear, Momma Bear, and Baby Bears... one day, Baby Bears' shoes will be much bigger than Momma's!  Maybe I should take a picture of our shoes on each trip to watch the growth in progress :)

Dinner time in our makeshift high chairs...

The next day we took the boys on their first boat cruise...  Bryce was so enthralled by the water and all the boats behind us and refused to look at the camera.

All three of my boys with their protective hats (you can see Bryce with his in the background).

Mommy with Ben... he yanked off his hat pretty quickly.

After the boat cruise, we stopped at a cool little barbeque restaurant for lunch.  The food was delicious!

Unfortunately, we got rain on the third day.  But, we happily spent the afternoon at the South Carolina Aquarium.

On day four, we had lunch at a seafood restaurant by the water and watched dolphins swim by while we ate!  (I just realized I forgot to take a picture that day.)  We then headed back to the resort to relax and start packing for a very early flight the next day.

I think the boys were really happy about their first trip...

Next trip for the boys... New York in April!  Woohoo!

Yikes! 8 Months Already!

Oh goodness, the months are flying by way too fast now!  The boys turned 8 months old yesterday, but it seems like it was only a few days ago that they reached 7 months.  I complained that the first 6 months felt more like 6 years, but now I want things to slow down!  My boys no longer look like little babies, but more like little toddlers. :(  So sad.

But, I must say, we had a great month of exciting milestones!

- First of all, you may have read from a previous post that Ben got his first tooth shortly after he turned 7 months.  And, now I'm happy to report that Bryce also got his first tooth (this past weekend), and it looks like a second one is just about to break through the skin!

- You may also have read from a previous post that both boys got RSV for the first time (and hopefully the last).

- The boys are really trying to talk.  Bryce usually says "dada," while Ben mostly says "mama," and both frequently say "baba."  This surprises us because Bryce is a big time mama's boy.

- The boys are also really trying to move around now.  While sitting on the floor, they've learned how to scoot their bottoms across the floor to get from point A to point B.  And, Bryce will not lay still on his back anymore.  As soon as you lay him on his back, he rolls over onto his stomach and tries to move forward by pushing his feet against the floor.  By doing that, he's only managed to push his little butt up in the air, but we think they're both really close to crawling.

Here are their 8-month pics with their 8 monkeys...

Bryce chilling with his buddies...

Ben hamming it up for the camera, as usual...

Coincidentally, we had visitors that day!  My sweet friend Kristen came over with her beautiful girls, Macy and Evie.  As you can see, Macy took a liking to Ben... and I think the feeling was mutual. :)

However, Evie and Bryce were a little more shy about PDA.

Macy came up with the idea to do a goofy picture.  Silly Ben joined right in, but I don't think Bryce was in the mood!

Gift From Australia

A few weeks ago, the boys received a package all the way from Sydney, Australia from our dear friends Jilly and Andy.  Inside were these adorable little canvas bags each holding a stuffed toy and little onesie with matching hat.  After much thought, we decided Bryce should have the koala bear since he's our quite and calmer child, while Benjamin should have the kangaroo since he's the loud and spaztic child.

Oh my goodness, can they be any cuter? :)  But, I have a feeling, they're not going to be happy with this picture one day.

Ben looking at his brother and probably thinking, "What is that on your head?"

Ben whispering to Bryce, "Just play along. We'll get her back for this one day."

We almost forgot the stuffed animals!

This one made me laugh hysterically!

Ben's Crazy Hair

The boys' mohawks are starting to disappear now that hair is finally growing all over their head and not just straight down the middle.  With more hair comes bad hair days.

One morning, Ben woke up with this... oh my.

Then again, maybe he likes having a mohawk...

RSV... Yuck!

A couple of weeks ago, our poor babies were diagnosed with RSV.  Luckily, it didn't get too bad... no fevers or breathing treatments, just several weeks of bad congestion, coughing and sneezing.  Ben's throat must have been hurting because it got to the point where he'd cry everytime he coughed.  We were so sad to see the boys so uncomfortable.

They're okay now... but since we let them sleep with us while they were sick, we (or should I say mommy and babies, not sure how dad feels) are addicted and haven't stopped cosleeping.  I think dad would prefer to have his bed back, but neither one of us want to go through the sleep training again, especially since we've all gotten so much more sleep with no crying babies getting us out of bed!  Oh well, as they say... nothing lasts forever.  They certainly won't be sleeping with us when they're in college. :)

The sick boys laying on mommy's pillow...

But, they weren't too sick...

...to steal each other's pacifiers like they always do.

Two meds for each baby... unfortunately, they only liked the taste of one of them.

And can you believe, on the way from the pediatrician's office, someone hit our car!  It was a bad day all around!

1st Tooth

At 7 months, our Benjamin got his first tooth!  Hooray!  He'll being eating steak in no time!
